Greenthorne Farm is situated at the centre of the picturesque village of Yealand Redmayne which has about 300 residents.
The area is classified as being of
outstanding natural beauty
and limestone pavement areas and rare plants in the woods
behind, also make it a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
- Leighton Moss Bird Reserve

Leighton Moss RSPB Bird Reserve is of interest to all, not just bird lovers. There is a visitor centre and cafe.
- Leighton Hall
(1 mile)
Leighton Hall is the beautiful, historic home of the Gillow family, and if the house and contents do
not interest you then the display of the birds of prey is bound to impress. Open from May to September.
- Carnforth
Station Visitor Centre (2½ miles)
Carnforth Station Visitor Centre is only a
short drive away. The station is famous for scenes in the film "Brief Encounter",
and volunteers have recently renovated rooms in the station back to a high standard.
- Kirby Lonsdale (6 miles)
- Kirkby Lonsdale is an unspoilt little market town about six miles east, the area being
made famous by the landscapes of the painter Turner.
Lovely walks by the river - pause at 'Ruskin's View', shops, pubs and cafes. Market day is Thursday.
- Silverdale (2½ miles)
- Enjoy a good walk to Silverdale, past the RSPB bird sanctuary and Silverdale
golf course. Silverdale is famous for its sea washed turf.
- Lancaster (10 miles)
- Lancaster, about ten miles south, is full of historical sights,
don't miss a tour around the castle, visit the cathedral and museum.

- Kendal is another attractive market town about ten miles north
and of course not much further on you are in the heart of
the Lake District, all within half an hour's drive from Yealand.
